My Smart Home: DIY PCBs and Hardware for my apartment

Teammates:

Custom ESP32 PCBs for a DIY smart home — connecting appliances to Alexa and Siri at a fraction of the cost of commercial smart devices

Overview

I enjoy making PCBs to automate boring things. Currently, I'm working on a side project to connect as many home appliances as I can to Alexa and Siri to make a smart home. I'm developing a custom PCB using ESP32 which has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions to allow me to control things remotely. I also aim to sharpen my skills in IoT and product design through this project.

Ideas

Smart home technology has always intrigued me, but commercial devices are expensive black boxes that offer little control. I decided to build my own — an ESP32-based control hub with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that lets me connect home appliances to Alexa and Siri, and expand the system on my own terms.
